On the occasion of Army Day, January 15, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu extended heartfelt greetings to Indian Army personnel, veterans, and their families. Acknowledging their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, she described their service as an enduring source of inspiration for all citizens.

Taking to social media, President Murmu expressed the nation’s gratitude for the countless sacrifices made by Army personnel in the service of the motherland. She highlighted their role in ensuring national security and exemplifying courage, commitment, and compassion.

“Your selfless contributions during crises and disasters reflect unparalleled kindness and humanity,” she noted, lauding the Army’s efforts beyond the battlefield. She added, “May your extraordinary valour continue to inspire generations to come.”

Army Day commemorates the historic moment in 1949 when General K. M. Cariappa, later Field Marshal, took charge as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, replacing his British predecessor.

President Murmu’s words underscore the pride and admiration felt by the nation for its Army, whose dedication to duty remains steadfast in both defense and humanitarian efforts. Their sacrifices and courage stand as a beacon of hope and honor for every Indian.
