In a scene straight out of a sci-fi film, a California-based automaker has showcased a flying car that can lift off the ground and soar over traffic. The Alef Model Zero, an electric vehicle designed for vertical takeoff, was captured in a now-viral video smoothly ascending and floating over parked cars, leaving viewers in awe.

Alef Aeronautics CEO Jim Dukhovny hailed the moment as a historic breakthrough, likening it to the Wright Brothers’ first flight. “This test proves that new transportation is possible in real-world city environments,” he stated.

The futuristic vehicle relies on distributed electric propulsion, utilizing a mesh-covered propeller system with four rotors at the front and four at the rear. However, despite its innovative design, the car currently has a top speed of just 25 miles per hour. Priced at $300,000 (₹2.6 crore), it has already garnered over 3,000 preorders.

While the test amazed some, many online users were skeptical. Some dismissed it as poor CGI, while others argued that it resembled an oversized drone. One user even questioned its impact on traffic, asking, “If everyone starts jumping, won’t the roads—and skies—be just as congested?”
