Veteran actor Rajesh died Thursday morning (May 29) at the age of 75 from respiratory failure, leaving the Tamil cinema industry in mourning. At a private hospital in Porur, Chennai, the actor was receiving treatment for age-related health issues.

Family reports claim that Rajesh passed away at approximately 8:15 AM. Following his daughter’s arrival from Canada, his funeral is set for June 1.

A 50-Year Journey in Cinema

Rajesh began his illustrious film journey in 1974 with Aval Oru Thodar Kathai. Over the decades, he became a familiar face in Tamil cinema, known for his versatility in both lead and supporting roles. His early performances in films like Andha 7 Naatkal, directed by K. Bhagyaraj, earned him widespread acclaim.

Throughout his career, he acted in 150+ films, delivering memorable performances in classics like Mahanadi, Iruvar, Nerukku Ner, Deena, Citizen, Ramana, Virumandi, Autograph, Sivakasi, Thirudan Police, Gethu, Dharmadurai, Sarkar, and Master, among many others.

Beyond the Movie

Rajesh’s skill was not limited to the cinema. In order to appeal to younger audiences, he made memorable cameos in television series and even contributed to YouTube video. In addition, he provided his voice for background dubbing in regional productions, such as those starring the well-known Nedumudi Venu.
