Ranveer Singh has once again proven his box office might as Bollywood’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar continues its unstoppable march at the global box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the high-octane spy drama has officially stormed past the ₹550 crore worldwide mark within just 10 days of release, setting new benchmarks for Hindi cinema.
Released theatrically on December 5, Dhurandhar has witnessed phenomenal audience turnout across India and overseas markets. According to the makers, the film has amassed an astounding ₹552.70 crore globally, driven by record-breaking collections and extraordinary word-of-mouth.
Record-Shattering India Box Office Performance
The film’s domestic run has been nothing short of historic. Dhurandhar collected ₹364.60 crore nett in India within 10 days, with its India gross touching ₹430.20 crore. Its second Sunday collection of ₹58.20 crore nett stands as the highest-ever Sunday haul for a Hindi film, a feat rarely achieved in Bollywood history.
The movie opened with a thunderous ₹218 crore nett in its first week, followed by a strong ₹34.70 crore on its second Friday and ₹53.70 crore on the second Saturday, culminating in an explosive Sunday that rewrote box office records.
Overseas Markets Fuel the Global Wave
Beyond Indian shores, Dhurandhar has performed exceptionally well, collecting ₹122.50 crore overseas. Packed theatres, midnight shows, and extended screenings across international territories have turned the film into a true global phenomenon.
Calling the film’s run “unprecedented and record-shattering,” the makers highlighted that Dhurandhar has registered the biggest second Friday, second Saturday, and second Sunday in Hindi cinema history, with daily collections rising consistently since the first Monday.
A Gritty Spy Thriller with a Bold Backdrop
Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a gritty espionage thriller rooted in covert intelligence operations. The narrative draws inspiration from real-life geopolitical and terror events such as the Kandahar hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Much of the story unfolds in Lyari, Karachi, a region historically associated with gang wars and violent power struggles. This bold setting, combined with a layered political narrative, has sparked polarising reactions among critics and audiences alike—yet the box office numbers tell a story of overwhelming public acceptance.
Power-Packed Ensemble Cast
Alongside Ranveer Singh in a commanding lead role, Dhurandhar boasts a formidable ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and others. The film is produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios, in association with Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios.
A Box Office Juggernaut with No Signs of Slowing Down
With audience interest continuing to surge and shows running round the clock, Dhurandhar shows no signs of losing momentum. Whether praised for its scale or debated for its themes, the film has undeniably cemented its place as one of the biggest box office successes in recent Hindi cinema.
