Jammu airport witnessed chaos and frustration on Saturday as bad weather in Srinagar caused major disruptions to flight schedules, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. Flights from Delhi and Kolkata, along with several outbound flights, were either cancelled or delayed, sparking complaints from agitated travelers.
Visuals shared on social media showed overcrowded terminals, with many passengers expressing concerns over the lack of clarity and support from airlines. IndiGo, one of the affected carriers, posted on X that it was closely monitoring the weather and working to restore normal operations.
One distressed passenger voiced their frustration: “I need accommodation for the night since my flight got cancelled. I can’t afford to pay for a hotel. We want justice.”
Some travelers, whose flights to Srinagar were diverted to Jammu, reported being stuck at the airport since 2 PM, awaiting further information. While airline authorities claimed that refunds and alternative connections were being arranged, several passengers complained about the lack of immediate assistance, particularly overnight lodging.
The weather eventually improved late Saturday night, offering hope for resumed services. However, the ordeal has raised questions about passenger care during such disruptions.
