The Parkash Purb of 10th Sikh Master Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated with devotion and Khalsai tradition at the Golden Temple. A large number of Sangat reached the Harmandir Sahib, had “darshan” and listened to Gurbani Kirtan. Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib were also illuminated with ornamental lights to mark the occasion.

In connection with the birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh Guru, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) held a bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, after which a religious Diwan was held, in which the Sangat listened to ragis, dhadis, kwishar and preachers who shared the life history of Guru Gobind Singh.

Several institutions also marked the 358th Gurpurab of the 10th Sikh Guru.

Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC president, congratulated people on the Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh and urged them to follow the path shown by him. He said the Dasam Patshahji’s life is a beacon of light for humanity, from which one should set priorities in life. Guru Gobind Singh raised his voice against oppression and encouraged people to live with dignity. He said that Guru Gobind Singh set a unique example in the religious history of the world by sacrificing his life for humanity. He appealed to the Sangat to raise their voice against social evils and pay respect to the Guru by following his life and teachings.

Educational institutions, including the Chief Khalsa Diwan and Khalsa College Charitable Society, held kirtan. Hymns from the Gurbani and verses were also recited. All gurdwaras were decorated tastefully with buntings and flowers to celebrate Gurpurab.
